I will start following this case over the next two months. It is a class I open bite case. She was bonded on 5/12/09. SureSmile wires were placed on 5/25/09. She will return for a check on 6/19/09. I will display photos and the set up and we will follow this case live.
What I hope you can see is that the design of the occlusion is to control the posterior occlusion throughout treatment . There was very little time in straight wire with this case so we went into a controlled case from the beginning. I think this is a great way to learn......to see the case from start to finish without the temptation of picking cases. I will take photos at each visit and hope to finish by August. This patient attends a school out of state and does not want to return for any visits in the school year. Neal, I really think this case was custom made for the wilcko protocol but the parents did not want to pursue that avenue.
I did IPR extensively in the canine and premolar areas where you can see the overlap and crowding in that area. I picked up about a millimeter and one half on each side in those area. I also did some IPR in the lower incisor area. She is wearing class II vertical elastics 24/7 (I hope). They connect from the upper 3 and 4 to the lower 4 and 5. 2.5 oz 1/4 inch elastics.
